METHODOLOGY

How we research reviews and buying guides.

The goal is simple: make the buying decision clearer without pretending every product has been on our desk.

01

Start with the buyer

We define who the product or upgrade makes sense for, what it competes with and which compromises are likely to matter in normal use.

02

Check primary sources

Specifications and compatibility claims are checked against manufacturer documentation or other primary sources where possible. Research links are shown on relevant articles.

03

Separate research from hands-on testing

A researched review is labelled and written as researched analysis. We do not invent personal testing, ownership, benchmark results or long-term experience.

04

Explain trade-offs

Torque, refresh rate and other headline numbers are useful, but context matters. Recommendations should include the reasons not to buy something as well as the reasons to buy it.

05

Commercial links come last

Affiliate availability can affect where a purchase button sends a reader, but it should not rewrite the underlying comparison. Affiliate links are disclosed near the relevant link.

06

Update when facts change

Product ranges, compatibility, pricing and availability change. An updated date should only move when the article is actually reviewed or revised.
